Editing a Pinned Report

To edit a Pinned Report that has already been created, you need to ensure one of the following conditions have been met:

a) You are the report creator and the Pinned Report is saved as a Private Pinned Report; and/or

b) You are not the report creator but you have been assigned "Run and Maintain" Access to the Pinned Report, thus allowing you to update, edit and delete the Pinned Report. In most cases this also means that you have the Create/Update Group Pinned Reports Role.

To edit your Pinned Report, first locate that Pinned Report on your Pinned Reports Tab. The location of that report will depend on how it has been saved (Private or part of a Group).

Once you find the report you would like to edit, there are two options: you can run the report first by clicking the Execute Report button, or you can click the report title to first review the Filter Options.

The name of the pinned report displays at the top of the page to confirm that you are running the correct report.

Once you make any number of edits to the Pinned Report, including the Filter Options, the Advanced Options or any report formatting, you must remember to re-execute the report prior to saving your changes.

FAST will notify you that the Pinned Report criteria has now been modified. At this point, the report has not yet been saved, so you can still choose to not save your changes.

Once you re-execute the report, you'll notice a slight change to the Pinned Reports button. Instead of a "Save As" button, you'll notice the following option:

Click on the Triangle to reveal the available choices of "Update" or "Create New"

To use these buttons effectively:

  1. Update this Pinned Report will allow you to update (or overwrite) your existing report. You will still be prompted with the same original dialogue box that will also allow you to edit the Title, Description or Shared Settings. Click Save again to re-save. This report will now replace your original Pinned Report.

  2. Create a new Pinned Report will allow you to create a brand new Pinned Report with the new (modified) criteria. You will now be prompted to fill in the same original Dialogue box which should be completed carefully. When you're ready, click Save.

Using the "Create a new Pinned Report" option is also the best and fastest way to create new pinned reports using your original formatting as a template or starting point!
